Why the Race

The Race for the Homeless 2016 will run for its 17th year in Vancouver, Washington. Once again, the race will benefit Open House Ministries. 100% of the race fee will be matched with a generous donation to Open House Ministries. Last year $8,000 was given to this organization to help homeless families regain their independence.

Why Open House Ministries

Since incorporation in 1986, Open House Ministries has provided shelter, safety, and hope to families without homes. Their program focus is to equip families with life skills and foundational tools to help them regain healthy, independent lives. They accomplish this through personalized case management, strong community networks, volunteer support, and the generous endowments of our caring community. Each family agrees to participate in a program designed to assist them in resolving their homeless situation.

Shirts, Awards, Giveaways, and Timing

A Race for the Homeless shirt is included with your pre-registration. Race day registrations may also receive a shirt as supplies allow. Participants in the Kid Fun Run can purchase shirts in advance for $10. All shirts are available for pick-up on race day only.

All finishers will receive a Race for the Homeless shirt (if pre-registered), along with lots of free stuff, food and information. The race course for the 5K Run, 10K Run and 5K Walk will be accurately measured.

Directions and parking

Directions

The O.O. Howard House is located on Fort Vancouver Way near Officers Row. From I-5, take the Mill Plain exit and head east. Take the first right to proceed south on Fort Vancouver Way. The start/finish line is on Fort Vancouver Way, just south of E Evergreen Blvd.

Get Driving Directions

Parking

Parking is available within close proximity to the start/finish line. Two parking lots are along E Evergreen Blvd, east of Fort Vancouver Way. In addition, the library parking lot is on the east side of Fort Vancouver way, just south of Mill Plain. Street parking is available on E 5th St, just south of the start/finish line.

7:00 am......Day of race registration begins
8:00 am......5K Run and 10K Run begins
8:05 am......5K Walk begins
9:00 am......Fun Festival begins
9:15 am......Kid Fun Run begins

Race cost

If pre-registered by July 20, the cost of the 5K Run, 10K Run and 5K Walk is $15. Day of race registration is $20. Kid Fun Run and Fun Festival events are free.

Pre-registration has closed. But, we still have a spot for you! Come and register on race day for $20. You’ll receive a shirt as supplies allow. All participants will pick up a race bib # on race day (beginning at 7am). Save time by bringing the completed registration form with you to the race.
